This picture was taken in Italy in 2006. We were living in Sicily and travelling around the Palermo area. Carini is an unspoilt, traditional Sicilian hill town not far from the capital of Sicily, Palermo. In the centre of town people come and fill their containers from the fountain becouse the water comes from the snow covered mountains and is the best, freshest drinking water ever.
Monochrome just seemed the right medium. I didnt want the intrusion of garish T shirts or just non essential colour. The fountain and the water and the buildings in the background were shades of black and whate in anycase.
