A Lost Soul

I just found out today my good friend Beatrice died recently. A friend of mine from Italy who just turned 30. I spent a weekend in Rome with her about a month ago. She was helping me with a photo shoot. This picture was one I took that day. I first met her at a wine bar in Brooklyn. I used to go there a lot. After a few years she moved to Italy and we lost touch.

The one good thing about Facebook and the new technology itself, when I joined, Beatrice was one of the first people to add me as a friend. It was great getting back in touch with her. My job recently sent me to Italy for 3 weeks and she was the first person I though of contacting. I am so glad I got to see her one more time.

On the train ride from Bologna to Rome she had told me what was going on with her life and I was quite concerned about her. We had a fun time in Rome and even ran into friends of hers randomly in a cafe in Rome, we were looking for a bathroom. The friend was also someone who used to go to the wine bar and was there with his girlfriend for a week. Just a testament to all the friends she had and that cared for her.

We had lunch in a back alley of Rome. I was telling her about my girlfriend and how we were going to get married. She was so happy for me because she knew about all the bad luck I had in the past. I was going back to Italy soon and was hoping to see her again.

Bea was such a wonderfully beautiful person. A painter, a photographer and a good friend who left too soon. You will be greatly missed.

**** Thanks everyone for the kind words. Greg
